Replacing the countertops is probably one of the most cost effective and quick things that can be done to update the look of the kitchen or the bathroom. Choose countertops that look modern and clean but resist the urge to get too outlandish with your choices. It is important for the home to have amenities equivalent to other homes in the same market. If other homes in the neighborhood are likely to have granite or high-end countertops, your home should have them as well. There are a great variety of choices, so compare prices in order to avoid overpaying. If you cannot afford to update your countertops by replacing them, make sure that you repair any visible damage and remove all stains. The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works wonders on countertops and will even remove wine and other stains from deep down. You can make it look newer by making it look cleaner.
I totally agree. Also, if you can't afford to change the counter tops in the entire kitchen...if you have an island, do that. Butcher block, marble, granite, all great choices for something distinctive.
